Official Sweepstakes Rules & Conditions

I. HOW TO ENTER
NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. Enter the sweepstakes by downloading an entry form, which may be found at www.stepintoreading.com, providing the contact information requested on the entry form, and listing the titles of each of the six (6) books read by your child between May 26, 2009 and September 1, 2009. Mail the completed entry form to Step into Reading Summer Reading Challenge, Random House Children’s Books, 1745 Broadway, Mail Drop 10-3, New York, NY 10019. LIMIT ONE ENTRY PER PERSON. If multiple entries are received from any person in violation of these rules, all such entries will be disqualified. All entries must be received by September 15, 2009. All participants who have read at least three (3) Step into Reading books and list the titles on the entry form will receive one pack of lunch bags per person. While supplies last. Allow 6 to 8 weeks for delivery. Lunch Bags available beginning 9/1/2009.

II. ELIGIBILITY
Contest is open to legal residents of the fifty (50) United States and the District of Columbia, and Canada, excluding the Province of Quebec, who are the parent’s of a child between the ages of 5 and 11 as of and including September 1, 2009. All federal, state and local laws and regulations apply. Void wherever prohibited or restricted by law. Employees of Random House, Inc. and its parent companies, assigns, subsidiaries or affiliates, and advertising, promotion, and fulfillment agencies or prize suppliers; their immediate family members, and persons living in their household are not eligible to enter this Contest.

III. PRIZES
One entry will be drawn to win the sweepstakes prize of one (1) collection of 200 Step Into Reading titles for the winner’s personal use and one (1) collection of 200 Step Into Reading titles for the winner’s school library.

IV. WINNERS
Sweepstakes winners will be chosen on or about October 1, 2009 from all eligible entries received by Random House Children’s Books. The sweepstakes winners will be picked randomly from all qualified entries received. Odds of winning are based on the number of entrants.
Winners will be notified by e-mail on or about October 15, 2009 and winners will be required to sign and return affidavits of eligibility and release of liability within 14 days of notification. Noncompliance within that time period or the return of any notification as undeliverable will result in disqualification and the selection of an alternate winner. In the event of any other noncompliance with rules and conditions, prize may be awarded to an alternate winner. Taxes, if any, are the winner’s sole responsibility.

RANDOM HOUSE RESERVES THE RIGHT TO SUBSTITUTE PRIZES OF EQUAL OR GREATER VALUE IF PRIZES, AS STATED ABOVE, BECOME UNAVAILABLE.

V. RESERVATIONS
By participating, winners agree that Random House, it’s parent company, assigns, subsidiaries or affiliates, and advertising, promotion and fulfillment agencies will have no liability whatsoever, and will be held harmless by winner for any liability for any injuries, losses, or damages of any kind to person, including death, and property resulting in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, from the acceptance, possession, misuse, or use of the prizes, or participation in this sweepstakes. Random House assumes no responsibility for any error; omission; interruption; deletion; defect; delay in operation or transmission; communications-line failure; or the theft destruction, unauthorized access to or alteration of entries. Random House is not responsible for any problems or technical malfunction of any telephone network or lines; computer online systems, servers, or providers; computer equipment or software; or failure of e-mail or entry on account of technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet or at any Web site or combination thereof, including injury or damage to the participant’s or to any person’s computer related to or resulting from participating or downloading materials from this Web site or sweepstakes. By entering the Step into Reading Summer Reading Challenge Sweepstakes, the winners consent to the use of the winners’ names, likenesses, and biographical data for publicity and promotional purposes on behalf of Random House Inc. with no additional compensation or further permission (except where prohibited by law). Other entrants’ names will NOT be used for subsequent mail solicitation. Washington and Vermont residents may omit return postage.
